Cameroon FA shocked as sports ministry hires new team coach

Cameroon’s soccer federation expressed its “great astonishment” after studying that the sports ministry had employed Marc Brys as the new coach of the nation’s nationwide team.

The Belgian succeeds Rigobert Song, whose contract expired after the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this yr and was not renewed.

FIFA prohibits all types of authorities involvement in soccer on a nationwide foundation. ESPN has reached out to FIFA for remark.

The federation stated it was making an attempt “to shed light on this regrettable situation.”

Song led the Indomitable Lions to the spherical of 16 on the Africa Cup of Nations.
