Ten Hag hails captain Bruno Fernandes for leading by example

Erik ten Hag has responded to criticism of his captain Bruno Fernandes by insisting he is pleased along with his selection after the midfielder scored a significant winner for Manchester United towards Fulham.

“He had some complaints after the coaching,” said Ten Hag. “He travelled with us however right now the complaints had been that a lot that he could not begin. It was a threat to start out him as a result of we would lose him over extra weeks.

“So we didn’t want to go with this risk because we have many more important games after today.”
